Breaking News, Digital Desk- People are now resorting to wrong methods to avoid toll tax, especially by misusing fastag. Recently, many such cases have come to light where people are not installing fastag on their vehicles or are not even keeping cash, due to which toll tax is being stolen. To curb this, the National Highways Authority of India  is taking several steps. Such actions lead to loss of toll revenue and are also illegal.

But the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken several steps to stop such activities. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is taking several steps to prevent people from deliberately not installing Fasttag on the windscreen of their vehicles on national highways.

Now double toll will be charged-

According to an official statement, NHAI has issued guidelines to charge double toll from such vehicles. Vehicles that do not have fastag installed on the inside front windshield, and if they enter the toll lane, they will have to pay double toll.

NHAI said that deliberately not installing fastag on the windscreen causes unnecessary delay at the toll plaza, causing inconvenience to other vehicles.

SOP issued to toll tax collector-

NHAI said that detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been issued to all user fee collection agencies and concessionaires to charge double user fee in case the fastag is not installed on the front windshield.

According to the statement, this information will also be prominently displayed at all toll plazas, informing people about the penalty imposed for entering the toll lane without installing the fastag on the windshield.

Action will be taken against people-

CCTV footage along with the vehicle registration number  will be recorded at the toll plaza in non-FASTag cases. This will help in maintaining proper records about the fee collected and the presence of the vehicle in the toll lane.

NHAI will put you in the blacklist-

The statement said that wrongly installed FASTags will not be valid at the fee plaza and such vehicles will have to pay double the toll fee.

NHAI has clarified that the issuing bank should ensure that the FASTag is installed on the windshield of the vehicle. This will also ensure that the FASTag will not be blacklisted.
