Why do LPG prices keep changing?

  1. LPG cylinder prices are not permanent. They depend on many factors:
  2. Crude oil prices in the international market: If oil is expensive, then cylinders also become expensive.
  3. Government subsidy policy: When and how much subsidy the government gives, it directly affects the price of the cylinder.
  4. Local tax and supply cost: Tax and transportation are different in every state and district, so the rate can be different everywhere.

What can happen next?

There are indications from the Petroleum Ministry that if the prices of crude oil remain stable in the international market, then there will not be a big increase in the price of LPG cylinder in the coming months. However, it all depends on the price of oil, the position of rupee against the dollar and the subsidy policy of the government.

What is the status of subsidy?

In many states, the subsidy on LPG cylinder has now been stopped or is being given very less. But those who have the benefit of Ujjwala Yojana are still getting subsidy to some extent.

If you have not completed e-KYC, then it is possible that subsidy has not come to your account. In such a situation, go to the nearest gas agency and get KYC updated.

What should consumers do?

  1. Be sure to check the rates every month – so that you know how much you are taking the cylinder for.
  2. Get e-KYC completed – this is necessary to get subsidy under the Ujjwala Yojana.
  3. Complain on the portal – If you are being given a cylinder at a higher price, then complain about it to the local supplier and on the online portal.
  4. Make sure to take the receipt of the gas agency – so that you have proof of the rate and payment.

The prices of LPG gas cylinders keep changing every month and it is very important for the customers to know the rates that have been issued in the districts of Jharkhand this month i.e. on 26 June 2025. While cheaper cylinders are available in Jamshedpur and Saraikela, the price is slightly higher in Ranchi and other districts.

If you are also troubled by these prices, then definitely get information about the Ujjwala Yojana or subsidy schemes run by the government and make sure whether you are getting its benefits or not.
