It is safest to keep gold in a bank locker, but some people also keep gold ornaments at home. According to the Income Tax Act of the Government of India, there is a limit on keeping gold at home.

If you have the documents, you can keep unlimited gold at home

If you have all the necessary documents related to your income, tax and gold, then there is no limit for you to keep gold at home.

How much gold can women keep

According to the Income Tax Act, a married woman can keep up to 500 grams of gold with her, while the limit for unmarried women is 250 grams.

As far as men are concerned, they are allowed to keep only 100 grams of gold at home. Note that this limit is different for each person. For example, if there are two married women in a family, then both of them together can keep up to 1 kg of gold at home.
