Digital Desk: Yes, the government has made Aadhaar based KYC mandatory for ration card holders, and its last date is 30 June 2025. If you do not complete this process by the stipulated time, then you may stop getting ration from next month.

The government has taken this step to bring transparency in the ration distribution system and remove fake ration cards. How to do e-KYC of ration card sitting at home?

If you have a smartphone, then you can finish this work sitting at home in a few minutes. For this, the government has launched some mobile apps which make this process easier.

Steps for online e-KYC:

  1. Download the app:
  2. Download two apps from Google Play Store – ‘Mera KYC’ and ‘AadhaarFaceRD’.
  3. Both of these are government apps and are completely safe.
  4. Keep mobile number ready:
  5. The mobile number linked to your Aadhaar should be active because OTP will come on this number.
  6. Login to ‘Mera KYC’ app:
  7. Open the app, select your state and location.
  8. Enter details:
  9. Enter ration card number and Aadhaar number.
  10. Enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number.
  11. Scan face:
  12. Now scan your face with the help of AadhaarFaceRD app.
  13. If the scan is done correctly, then e-KYC is complete.
  14. See confirmation:
  15. You will get a confirmation message when the process is completed.
  16. You can also check your status by going to the ‘Mera Ration’ app.

What to do if you don’t have a smartphone?

No problem. The government has also made arrangements for offline e-KYC.

Offline method:

  1. Go to your nearest ration shop or Common Service Center (CSC).
  2. Take your Aadhaar card and ration card with you.
  3. There the operator will do your biometric verification – i.e. fingerprint or eye scanning.
  4. Your e-KYC will be considered successful as soon as the process is completed.

Keep these things in mind while doing e-KYC:

  1. Internet connection should be good.
  2. Keep good lighting while doing face scan.
  3. Your Aadhaar must be linked to mobile number.
  4. If any error comes, go to the nearest CSC center and repeat the process.
