Rah Veer Yojana: Haryana government has started a new and unique scheme "Raah Veer Yojana". Its objective is to encourage common citizens to take the injured people in road accidents to the hospital on time. Under this scheme, if a person takes the injured person in a road accident to the hospital, then he will be given an incentive amount of 25 thousand rupees.

Objective and functioning of the scheme

This scheme has been implemented with the aim of encouraging common people to help people injured in road accidents. Whenever a road accident occurs, the person who takes the injured person to the hospital will be given immediate assistance. The helper who takes the injured person to the hospital within an hour will get a reward of Rs 25,000. Along with this, he will also be given a certificate.

Sonipat District Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan said that the Rah Veer scheme proposed by the Central Government has now been implemented in Haryana as well. Under this scheme, a person can be eligible for this award five times a year.

Application process and required documents

To avail the benefits of Raah Veer Yojana, the person helping has to provide some important documents and information. This includes their name, mobile number, details of the place of incident, bank account details, certificate of accident site and certificate of hospitalization.

It will also be necessary to attach the certificate of the police station area where the accident took place and the certificate of the hospital where the injured was admitted. With all these documents, the person will get the benefit of the scheme.

Legal protection and reward distribution

The Haryana government has also provided legal protection to the citizens helping under the Raah Veer scheme. Every person helping in a fatal road accident will get legal protection under Section 134A of the Motor Vehicles Act 2019 and the Government of India's notification of September 29, 2020.

The person helping will get a reward of Rs 25,000 and a citation within seven days. If more than one person helps, the reward amount will be divided equally and everyone will be given a citation.

Evaluation and payment process

Under this scheme, there will be an evaluation committee at the district level which will have four members - Deputy Commissioner (Chairman), DTO (cum-Secretary RTA), SP and CMO/SMO (members). 

After the recommendation of this committee, the money will be sent to the account of Rah Veer within seven days by the Transport Department. The deadline for the Rah Veer scheme has been set till March 31, 2026, so during this time citizens will get a chance to take advantage of this scheme.
