- The auspicious time for Raksha Bandhan will be from 5:35 am to 1:24 pm on August 9.
- Rakhi can also be tied during Abhijit Muhurat. This year, Abhijit Muhurat on Raksha Bandhan is between 12 noon and 12:53 pm.
- Rakhi can be tied during Pradosh Kaal. The auspicious time to tie Rakhi during Pradosh Kaal will be from 7:19 pm to 9:24 pm.

On the day of Raksha Bandhan, sisters also observe a fast for their brother. Before tying the Rakhi, sisters do not even drink water and only after tying the Rakhi, sisters break their fast by eating sweets from the brother's hand.
