New expressway news

New Delhi News: Another big road project is underway, which will pass through six states of the country and will greatly benefit the people. We are talking about the new expressway connecting Surat to Chennai, which is going to become the second longest expressway in India.

The second longest expressway in the country

The total length of the Surat-Chennai Expressway will be approximately 1 thousand 271 kilometers. This expressway will start from Surat in Gujarat and go to Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu.

This route will pass through the Western Ghats and will include states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

This expressway will be very beneficial for those who want to save time in long journeys. Currently, the distance from Surat to Chennai is about 1,600 km, which takes about 36 hours to cover.

But after the construction of this new expressway, the travel distance will be reduced to 1,270 km and the time will also be reduced to half, i.e., it can be covered in about 18 hours.

High speed and modern road

This expressway is being built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Its speed limit will be 120 kilometers per hour, which will allow vehicles to move faster.

Currently it is being built in 4 lanes but in future it can be expanded to 6 or 8 lanes. About Rs 50 thousand crores are being spent on this entire project. The construction work has been targeted to be completed by December 2025.

Business and tourism will get a boost

This expressway will not only make travel easier for people, but will also boost trade and industry in the states connected to it. New opportunities will open up for industries in many parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. This project will also promote tourism, especially in those states which have natural and historical places.

Many important cities will be connected

Many major cities will be connected to each other through this expressway. These include cities like Nashik, Ahmednagar, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Kurnool, Kadapa and Tirupati. Traveling in these cities will become much easier and faster.

Beginnings and goals

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this project in October 2021. This project has been started under the 'Bharatmala Yojana', which is a major plan to strengthen the road network in the country. When this expressway is completed, it will directly connect the southern part of the country to the western part.
