Uttar Pradesh News: Uttar Pradesh has become the leading state in the country in terms of road infrastructure and expressway network today.
Many expressways, four-lane and six-lane roads, and new highway projects are developing rapidly here. An additional road will be built to reach Godaulia in Varanasi.
The Public Works Department has proposed to build an 18-meter wide road from Rathyatra Square to Godaulia Square. Rs 202.50 crore will be spent on this project.
This step is being taken in view of the increasing number of tourists in Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, which will improve traffic and get rid of jams.
18 meter wide road
An additional road will be built to reach Godaulia, the heart of Kashi. With the start of the ropeway station and Rath Yatra at Godaulia Square, the tourist crowd will increase here.
The Public Works Department has proposed to build an 18 meter wide road from Rath Yatra Square to Godaulia Square to reduce traffic jams and problems of tourists at Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham.
The preliminary detailed project report (DPR) has been sent to the headquarters by the Public Works Department after getting approval from the district administration.
Cabinet approval will soon be received to widen the 10.50 meter wide road to 18.50 meters. Rs 202.50 crore will be spent to widen the road on both sides, which includes utility shifting, compensation for land and house and construction of the road.
The number of tourists increased manifold
Due to the expansion of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, the number of tourists visiting Kashi has increased manifold. On special occasions, it is difficult to walk even two steps on the crowded road.
The traffic system deteriorated as soon as it reached Kashi, because there was a crowd of devotees who came to Prayagraj Maha Kumbh. The Commissionerate Police took action to control the crowd coming from the ring road, highway and outside districts.
Problem of vehicle parking
The road has been widened up to 50 meters near Rathyatra crossing for the ropeway station. After this, the road is less wide till the Gurudwara. Even after the one-way is made, there is a jam throughout the day.
Meanwhile, many colonies face problems in commuting. There is Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham near Laxmi Police Station, where there is also Rathyatra crossing for performing Ganga Aarti and bathing and boating.
The road is 10 to 13 meters wide at some places, due to which there is a jam. There is also a jam situation due to parking of vehicles around Laxmi Police Station.
You can say that movement is difficult due to a part of Laxmi Police Station being on the road. These problems have been raised by the Public Works Department in its preliminary report. The decision of the district administration is final.
A recurring plan
Many times plans were made to widen the road between Rathyatra Square and Godaulia. With different plans, the Municipal Corporation, Varanasi Development Authority and Public Works Department also demolished the houses coming in the way.
The plan could not be made due to political pressure, but this time a plan has been made after taking suggestions from public representatives. This is the reason why the Public Works Department is confident that there will be no hindrance in road widening.
Plan with a vision
