Haryana news: The country's hydrogen train is going to pass through Haryana, let's know through which places this train will pass...

Hydrogen train news

Indian Railways is now moving rapidly towards new technologies keeping the environment in mind. In this episode, preparations are being made to run the country's first hydrogen train.

This train will run between Sonipat to Jind section in Haryana and its maximum speed will be 140 kmph. Railways aim to achieve complete "zero carbon emission" by 2030 and this hydrogen train is a big step in that direction.

Hydrogen train will travel 90 kilometers

This will be the country's first pollution free train which will cover a total distance of 90 km. This train will have 8 to 10 coaches. According to information, if a train with a diesel engine covers this distance, then it emits about 964 kg of carbon dioxide.

Hydrogen storage plant is being built at Jind station

The necessary arrangements for the operation of hydrogen trains are also being made rapidly by the railways. A plant with the capacity to store 3 thousand kg of hydrogen is being built at the railway station in Jind district of Haryana. Apart from this, underground storage is also being prepared.

Rainwater falling on the station's roofs will also be collected and used to produce and operate hydrogen. The trial run of the train is planned between December 2025 and January 2026 and it can be run regularly in this financial year.

India became the fifth country where hydrogen train will run

Only a few countries in the world have the technology of hydrogen trains. Before India, such trains are running in countries like Sweden, China, Germany and France. India will come at number five in this list.

The coaches of this train are being prepared at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, which will be ready by December 2025. In the first phase, two hydrogen trains will be run.

Hydrogen train is more beneficial than diesel

According to experts, a hydrogen train gives the same mileage from 1 kg of hydrogen fuel as it gives from 4.5 liters of diesel. A total of 2.4 megawatts of electricity will be required to run the train, for which two small power plants will be installed in the train itself.

Hydrogen train will reach the mountains

Railways also plans to run hydrogen trains on hilly and heritage routes of the country in the next three years. This includes routes like Matheran Hill Railway, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Kalka-Shimla Railway, Kangra Valley and Nilgiri Mountain Railway. This step of Railways is taking India towards a clean and modern travel system.
