This journey is going to be through the 10 years old Tanakpur-Lohaghat route. When the journey resumed in 1981 after the Indo-China war, this route was used till 1984. After 1984, the Kathgodam to Almora-Danya-Ghat-Pithoragarh route came into use.

This time, after coming to Tanakpur from Delhi, passengers will use the 146 km long old route to go to Pithoragarh via Champawat-Lohaghat. The Tanakpur-Champawat-Ghat road is wider and more comfortable than the Kathgodam-Almora-Ghat route.
