Railway Ticket New Rules: If you are thinking of booking Tatkal tickets of Railways, then this news is very important for you. Railways has changed the rules related to Tatkal ticket booking. These new rules will come into effect from July 1, 2025 and common people will get direct benefit from it.

Now ticket booking will be done through Aadhaar

According to the new rules of the Railways, now only those people will be able to book Tatkal tickets who have verified their account with Aadhar Card. From July 15, while booking the ticket, OTP will also be sent on the mobile, which will be booked only after entering it.

The arbitrariness of agents will be curbed

What used to happen till now was that as soon as the booking of Tatkal tickets started, the agents would book all the tickets. The common people would just watch. But now the railways have decided that the agents will be able to book tickets only half an hour after the booking window opens.

Agents will be able to book tickets for AC coaches from 10:30 AM, agents will be able to book tickets for sleeper coaches from 11:30 AM, this will give common people a chance to book tickets first and will stop black marketing by agents.

What does the railway circular say?

The Railway Ministry has issued a circular on June 10, 2025 stating that from July 1, only those people will be able to book Tatkal tickets whose IRCTC account is linked to Aadhaar. And from July 15, OTP verification will also be mandatory. OTP will come on the mobile number given while booking the ticket.
