10 seconds rule-

Recently, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) gave an important guideline regarding the waiting time at the toll booth. According to this rule, if a car is stuck in the queue of the toll booth for more than 10 seconds, then it should be allowed to go without paying the toll tax.

100 meter rule-

Apart from the 10-second waiting time, there is another important guideline that you should be aware of. That is the 100 meter waiting line rule. 

According to NHAI, the waiting line at any toll plaza should not exceed 100 meters. If this is the case, toll tax cannot be collected from vehicles standing in the queue.

To identify the 100 meter waiting line meter, each toll lane has a yellow line marker. Which can be confirmed by looking at it. This has been done to promote a sense of accountability among toll plaza operators.
